Track Premiere: The Penitent Man ‘The Butcher’

As the world around us has been falling into chaos, sometimes smokey bluesy desert rock is just the ticket to drift away from your first world problems, enter The Penitent Man. Hailing from Salt Lake City, UT and with time on their hands due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the band entered Pale Horse Sound in their home town on the 26th June 2020 to perform a live stream of new and unreleased tracks.

The result is a near hour long performance showing a band in perfect blues harmony, and so impressed was Brad from Desert Records, he agreed to release the recording, simply entitled Live At Pale Horse Sound, along with the bands next album due in 2021.

More On The Penitent Man & ‘Live At Pale Horse Sound’

The Penitent Man (essentially meaning a ‘man of constant sorrow’) is a five piece desert/blues rock band based out of Salt Lake City, Utah. Established in the fall of 2018, the band has quickly created a catalogue of music that spans various genres of rock, blues, funk, and soul. The Penitent Man’s Self-Titled debut album was released on March 20th, 2020 and can now be found streaming on most digital platforms.

The band reached out to Desert Records for help in getting the album and the upcoming live album more attention. On October 2nd, Desert Records will be releasing their live album called Live At Pale Horse Sound. This captures the band in a live setting and features all new tracks that will be on their second studio album due out in 2021.

Although The Penitent Man is a fairly new band, they have already played multiple live shows and shared the stage with some national acts like Erika Wennerstrom and King Buffalo. Some of the bands members have previously supported other national touring acts in the past including ZZ Top, Scott Weiland, Shinedown, Halestorm, and many more.
