Album Premiere: Slutavverkning ‘Levande Charader’ – Drops This Friday via Feral Cuts
Stockholm’s Slutavverkning deliver what the band self-describe as ‘Swedish anti-capitalist jazz-punk fury’, which pretty much sums up their raucous sonic fusion as this eclectic five-piece prepares to unshackle their debut album, Levande Charader, which features ten tracks of experimental free jazz colliding head on with hardcore punk and noise-rock.
Set to be released this Friday, 1st September, through Canda’s avant-garde label Feral Cuts, today, 48 hours before it hits the streets, The Shaman is elated to be able to bring you the album in its entirety, which vocalist Jon Ekström, in his own eccentric way, says…
‘The album deals with a misunderstood pig farmer who is filling holes that only get deeper the more he tries to fill them. To find the voice of this man, I did stuff with my body and vocal chords that’s not suitable to print, but it did contain nudity, pigs and various beverages.’

Seasoned characters of Stockholm’s jazz, punk and metal scenes join forces in Slutavverkning and following three EPs, they are set to release their first full-length on September 1st. Levande Charader is an extension of the anti-capitalist spirit, as well as the unique avant-garde sound of their previous work.
It was recorded by a fresh lineup featuring Per Wiberg on bass (ex-Opeth, Candlemass, Spiritual Beggars…) and Isak Hedtjärn on saxophone and clarinet (Fire! Orchestra) who also substituted recently on tour with Viagra Boys and has a free-jazz project with vocalist Sebastian Murphy called Grismask.
