Premiere: Orbiter ‘Hollow World’ – New Album Drops This Friday via Argonauta Records
As Finland’s heavy yet trippy stoner and doom quartet Orbiter to release their debut eight-track album Hollow World on the unsuspecting masses this Friday, 22nd September through Italy’s finest exponents Argonauta Records, we at The Shaman are beyond stoked to be able to bring you the premiere of this new long player.
About the album, bassist Tuomas Talka says, ‘On Hollow World our goal was to continue cherishing and polishing our signature sound of sensitive dynamics between earth-shaking heaviness and subtly atmospheric lightness, seasoned with psychedelia. With Hiili Hiilesmaa in charge of production, this goal was met, and our expectations were even exceeded. Compared to our earlier work, Hollow World is more organic and dynamic, yet still even heavier!’
Guitarist Alexander Meaney adds, ‘The recording sessions were a lot of fun. At the start, we made the decision to make this album a sonic exploration, and that was a really inspiring approach for us. Hiili‘s studio seemed to have an endless amount of weird effects and synthesizers, which we used to enhance the marriage of bubbly psychedelia and doom we were aiming for.’
And in Lee Beamish’s recent review, about the album he states, ‘It is equal parts blisteringly heavy and woefully ambient’, adding that the band are ‘starting on a very long and creative career indeed’.

The sound of Orbiter is a unique brew of grinding riffs, atmospheric psychedelia, and hypnotically soaring vocals. The band is firmly rooted in doom metal and stoner rock, yet they adventurously take influences from a wide range of genres and even visual arts to create an approach that is truly their own.
Based in Helsinki, Finland, Orbiter first established themselves as a force to be reckoned with through their 2020 EP The Deluge, which received an enthusiastic response in the heavy music and doom metal underground scenes and media. The band has built a solid reputation as a great live act through their atmospheric shows on the club circuit and in festivals.
Orbiter recorded their debut full length album Hollow World with producer Hiili Hiilesmaa (HIM, Apocalyptica). The album was mixed by Hiilesmaa and mastered by Ted Jensen (Alice In Chains, Mastodon).
