At Shaman HQ we’ve become huge fans of France’s Conviction who epitomise the meaning of doom metal, or as Jamie said in his review using only four short words ‘true doom done right’. There really isn’t much more to add, so if you haven’t checked out their Argonauta Records released Self-Titled debut then put it at the top of your playlist, as it’s a must listen for any doom head, no excuses.
Guitarists Olivier Verron & Frédéric Patte-Brasseur we’re also kind enough to answer questions from Josh as part of his In Search Of Tone series, but before you head off to read how the band achieve their colossal sound, today it’s our absolute pleasure to bring you their new video for the track Outworn.
Shot by Kuro Productions in the Monumental Graveyard of Rouen, the band comments ‘Outworn deals with the damages of time. It’s about this moment in life when you look into the mirror and see someone that does not match what you thought anymore. You feel 25 inside but your body is much older than that, and unfortunately, there’s nothing much you can do to hide it.’

More On Conviction & Their Self-Titled Debut
Conviction burst into the doom scene in 2013, when they released their first demo. The four- piece, which is features members of Temple Of Baal, Mourning Dawn, Ataraxie and many more high class blackened heavy acts, unleashes the pure traditional doom in the likes of Saint Vitus, Pentagram, Count Raven or early Cathedral. The upcoming debut, recorded, mixed and mastered by guitarist Frédéric Patte-Brasseur in the Vault 92 Studio, contains eight fierce and massive tracks, that will take you on a trip into slow heaviness!
Says the band: ‘We’re proud to finally release Conviction’s first album, an album made by True Doom Metal fans, for True Doom Metal fans. Recording the whole album on our own in Frederic’s Vault 92 Studio has been quite an intense experience. Lots of sweat & blood were involved, and we’ve learnt a lot on ourselves as musicians through the process, channeling all our influences.’
