Through The Lens: GNOD / The Shits @ The White Hotel, Salford, 2nd May 2023

A bit of a home coming gig for the psych chameleons GNOD who played for The Beauty Witch at The White Hotel in Salford back at the start of May. Support was from the absolutely awesome The Shits, who made quite a name for themselves after playing the Roadburn pre-show The Spark back in April and experimental electronica from Harrga.

Although a great setting for gigs and all three performances had fantastic sound, the venue does have a preference for flooding the stage with fog and setting the lights really low and although it gives a great atmosphere, it does make it difficult to shoot.

This sadly happened a few weeks back when fellow Rocket Recordings artists Gnoomes put on an outstanding show at the Salford locale, to the point, the photos I did take were unusable, and when Harrga hit the stage, she more or less played in darkness, so unfortunately, the photos were also unusable (sorry!). The following shots of The Shits and GNOD, who it has to be said were on fire, are the best of a bad bunch, but hey, it is what it is as it was a great night with a healthy turnout, all three played awesome sets and it was great to catch up with Paddy after what seemed like an aeon.
