GNAW: Experimental Noise Malefactors Sully Souls With New Track Premiere

Gnaw

New York City’s beloved noise weavers, GNAW, lurch from their den of deviance with a new track of sonic abomination in the form of “Widowkeeper.” A slow, steady palpitation of tormented shrieks and menacing distortion doused in an overwhelming sentiment of apprehension and dread, the latest mantra comes courtesy of the band’s forthcoming Horrible Chamber full-length, slated to soil the great unwashed next month via Seventh Rule Recordings.

Additionally, audio masochists can still sample “Water Rite,” at Pitchfork.com. Called, “a delightful seven-minute span of punishment,” and commended for its “multi-dimensional electronic framework, crisscrossing howls and ghoulish utterances,” the tune is currently streaming at THIS LOCATION.

Gnaw 'Horrible Chamber' Artwork

GNAW is the maniacal anti-creation of Alan Dubin (Khanate, Old, O.L.D.), Carter Thornton (Enos Slaughter), Jun Mizumachi (Ike Yard), Brian Beatrice and Eric Neuser. Together they mold murderous sound orgies where the collective sentiments of fear, trauma, rage and repugnance collide into a cathartic state of brooding, audio disease. Horrible Chamber, the follow-up to 2009’s This Face, which Exclaim! proclaimed “noisy, demented and twistedly glorious,” and The Obelisk crowned “extreme, experimental and sonically unpleasant,” was recorded at Seizures Palace by Jason LaFarge (Swans, Akron/Family, Khanate, Angels Of Light) and mixed by Brian Beatrice at audioEngine and mastered by James Plotkin (OLD, Scorn, Khanate, Khlyst etc), with additional elements recorded by Beatrice, Dubin, Thornton, and Mizumachi in various chambers.

Horrible Chamber will see release via Seventh Rule Recordings on October 15, 2013. Pre-order details to be unveiled in the coming weeks.
