Premiere: Noisepicker ‘The Earth Will Swallow The Sun’ – New Album Releases This Friday
Forget polish, forget compromise, Noisepicker are here to burn it all down. This guitar-and-drums duo spits out raw, abrasive riffs and pounding rhythms with zero gloss and zero apologies. Their new album is a loud, filthy, rebellious blast straight from the underground as they don’t just make noise, they weaponise it and we’re giving you an exclusive first listen.

Entitled The Earth Will Swallow The Sun and featuring ten snarling tracks, it’ll be released this Friday, 21st March, through Exile On Mainstream about which, guitarist and vocalist Harry Armstrong says…
‘We set out to make an album that’s raw, energetic, live, and brutally honest, and we think the result speaks for itself. Recorded in an afternoon in a room with carpeted walls, using equipment older than ourselves, and embracing a complete disregard for modern recording techniques, this album sounds like a band in a room because that’s what it is. If you seek perfection, look away. Any flaws you hear are real. Any mistakes, human. And we wouldn’t have it any other way. Enjoy!’.
And in yesterday’s review, Shaman scribe Lee Beamish about the long-player said, ‘It’s a hangover in the blazing heat, it’s whiskey when all you want is water, it’s that dry throat feeling after a mouthful of cinnamon’.
Now crank it until it hurts as this is noise-rock with gnashing teeth and it’s coming for your eardrums as soon as you press play below…
More On Noisepicker And ‘The Earth Will Swallow The Sun’
With more than a quarter of a century of noise-making history behind him, Harry Armstrong returns alongside drummer Kieran Murphy for this brawny new release. Also known as the current bass player in Orange Goblin, you may well have caught Armstrong on countless festival lineups.
Experimenting with sounds in bands such as the hard rock of Blind River, the thrash metal of End Of Level Boss, the piano-led jazz rock of The Earls Of Mars, getting his stoner fix in Hangnail and Firebird (alongside Bill Steer and Ludwig Witt), the instrumental soundscapes of The Winchester Club, the death metal of Decomposed, to name just a few.

Having released their first album Peace Off via Exile On Mainstream in 2018, other commitments put Noisepicker on a slight hiatus, until the pair succumbed to the ever-growing pile of un-used riffs, and dusted them off to begin to work on what would eventually become their second full-length release.
In true DIY style, Armstrong took on the challenge of writing, recording and mixing this new record entirely himself, with recording sessions taking place in rehearsal rooms, and mixing sessions in his kitchen – and was assisted only in the mastering, which was handled by Stefan Brüggemann. The Earth Will Swallow The Sun has Amstrong‘s auditory fingerprints all over it – this record is truly lived in, rough around the edges, and all the better for it.

Do not expect neat, polished, note perfect, carefully constructed sound. Noisepicker are loud and abrasive. They pay homage to the genres which made them fall in love with music in the first place – doom, punk and blues – and bring it all together in a hearty and heavy concoction that is all their own.
