Chicago’s Dead Feathers immediately struck a chord with their take on ‘60s trippy psych rock that once emanated from the Haight-Ashbury hippie movement with their 2014 Self-Titled debut. Yes, comparisons can be made to Jefferson Airplane, especially the enchanting vocals of Marissa Welu, nee Allen, that give a nod to the great Grace Slick, but they offer so much more.
The band signed to Ripple Music to release the follow-up, 2019s All Is Lost, and now in 2023, Dead Feathers are gearing up to release the simply awesome seven-track Full Circle which El Jefe stated in his recent review that, ‘The vocal line tracks behind the guitars and squeezes enough juice outta the melody to paint the walls’ and concludes saying, ‘Full Circle is a great album with lotsa hidden moments that step out and deliver an audio surprise for the listener on repeated plays’.
Now today, 24 hours prior to its official release, The Shaman is absolutely honoured to bring you Full Circle in its entirety by clicking play below…
More On Dead Feathers & ‘Full Circle’
Based out of Chicago, IL, Dead Feathers has proven to be a band with exceeding potential and lasting appeal since day one. Building off of the success of their 2019 debut album All Is Lost on Ripple Music, Dead Feathers has been gaining a growing fan base across North America and overseas through ambitious touring and supporting acts like Kikagaku Moyo, All them Witches, SLIFT, and many more in their home city. During that time, they established their name and carved a debut full-length album that gained enthusiastic reviews from the international press.
Their live shows, filled with sensual and thunderous energy on stage, have put concertgoers under their spell. Brought on by the soulful and emotional vocals from Marissa Welu combined with the fuzz and reverb-backed guitars, ever-flowing bass lines, and booming drums, Dead Feathers sets a mood that has been crafted with the skill and artistry they’ve come to be known for.
