Premiere: Kulk ‘Live At The Earth House’

Get ready, dear readers as today, we’ve got something truly special to enchant your senses, both visual and auditory. The ferocious doom, sludge and noise-rock duo Kulk ventured into the remote wilds of Cranborne, Dorset, late last year to capture this mesmerising multi-camera live session at Earth House, nestled within the Ancient Technology Centre.

About the session, Jade and Thom of Kulk said, ‘Performing in a space like this was surreal, even with mics, cameras, drums and amps it still felt like we had travelled back in time. Every note and every snare was sublime, each minute we were there you considered the thousands of years that led to this point, insignificant and powerful simultaneously.’

While director Ali White reflects on the session, ‘I knew we needed a band whose sound personified the Neolithic magic of the Earth House space – and Kulk were an obvious choice. Their hypnotic and brooding grooves are harnessed from elsewhere and we saw it unleashed in real time. Filming live sessions can be awkward in their intimacy but we were all united and acted as conduits for something powerful that day. What we witnessed happen in the space was a transcendent experience.’

And adds that ‘It came together very easily, all we had to do was make sure we could capture it and I hope the video goes to show some of the energy that flows between these two unique artists, as individuals and as a unit. What you see is exactly as it happened, no overdubs, edits or camera tricks. It was a pleasure to collaborate with such a creative force and I won’t forget the mud walls vibrating any time soon.’

More On Kulk & Live At The Earth House

In late 2024, the band journeyed to Dorset to perform their live set in a formidable space with the help of Earth House Sessions.

The Earth House is located near the Dorset village of Cranborne in the Ancient Technology Centre, an experimental archaeology site. The structure the band performed in aims to demonstrate communal living spaces from the Iron Age taking inspiration for its interior from henge monuments.
