Video Premiere: Hail Darkness ‘With Horns Of A Beast’ – Debut ‘Death Divine’ Drops 15th August
As the female fronted South Carolina residents Hail Darkness prepare to release their debut album, Death Divine, that features ten enchanting tracks of ‘60s psychedelic rock and occult doom, or as the band more accurately describe their sonics as the ‘bastard daughter of doom and psychedelica’ through their own imprint Vatican Records on the 15th August.
Today, The Shaman is beyond ecstatic to bring you the trippy and kaleidoscopic video that encapsulates ’60s psychedelia for the track With Horns Of A Beast, about which the band says, ‘With Horns Of A Beast is the first video from our debut album Death Divine, the video clip portrays the psychedelic trip of a persecuted woman hunted by masked wild animal humans lost in the depths of the forest and is inspired by ‘70s horror, Mansonic clans and exploitation movies’.
As for the album the track is from, they add, ‘Death Divine was recorded over a period of more or less four years during different recording sessions, it compiles and captures our vintage lo-fi occult doom rock with pinches of ‘60s psychedelia and exotica creating our own musical time-warp trip’.

More On Hail Darkness & ‘Death Divine’
Hail Darkness is a female-fronted occult rock trio from the US, whose sound can be described as the bastard daughter of doom and psychedelia.
Founding member Joshua (bass) grew up in Phoenix where the first songs were recorded and produced around mid-2020, which resulted in the birth of Hail Darkness… along with main composer Jez on guitar and Emmet, also the band’s designer, on drums.
Hail Darkness moved to Jez’s home turf of South Carolina in the early days of the pandemic, setting up the home studio to begin an extensive three-year recording session recording up to four hours of material.
Initially, the goal was to recreate the vintage sound of their idols; T-Rex, Jefferson Airplane, Pentagram, Shocking Blue, Focus, Jes Franco soundtracks, Black Sabbath, Lucifer Rising, Mountain, Captain Beyond and many others… and mix with the sounds of their more modern favourites like Cathedral and Electric Wizard.
In the studio, Hail Darkness is accompanied by a host of multi-instrumentalist friends, also referred to as the Hail Darkness Coven, who help out with various instruments to create the expansive exotic psychedelic sound of Hail Darkness.
After the release of five singles in digital format, the debut album Death Divine will be self-released on their own label Vatican Records on August 15th 2024. The album contains ten songs showing their musically diverse side, incorporating aspects of occult ‘70s rock, psychedelia, doom and folk to present the listener magical retro dark cosmic journey.
Jez’s lyrics deal mostly with tongue-and-cheek occult, inspired by the old occult movies, with some serious winks to light and dark occult works and some personal insights and doodles.
