Ufomammut To Land On Desertfest 2013

Ufomammut

With the late, and very great, astrologer Sir Patrick Moore now having sadly departed us, the remaining mere mortals of this world are each going to need to get to grips with star-gazing in our own unique and special ways. Thankfully, as always, doom-metal is on hand to help, and when it comes to sounding like the lift-off of some giant alien mothership, producing otherworldly displays of hypnotic, space-dusted art and being constantly referred to under the banner of all things “cosmic”, the human race need look no further than the mighty Italians Ufomammut.

Taking their cues from the Jedi knights of Sleep, Electric Wizard, Pink Floyd, Hawkwind and King Crimson, the ‘Mammut are heavier than a thousand Hubble telescopes, each lined with the mass of its own internal black hole. They’re also the masters of the long-player format; recent voyage Oro Opus was so vast that it could not be confined to a single LP, and its two disks bolt together to form one glorious 94-minute riff labyrinth. Past conquests ‘Eve’, ‘Idolum’, ‘Lucifer’s Songs’, ‘Godlike Snake’ and ‘Snailking’ all spawned marauding, psychedelic orgies of aggressive, yet graceful and pace-varied prog-doom which set these Tortona natives up as one of Europe’s premier heavy music acts.

Backed by the Malleus Rock Lab, their one-of-a-kind art-visuals project, Signors Vito, Urlo and Poia have set the controls for the heart of Camden and are preparing their battery of equipment to hurl you into another dimension this coming April at DesertFest 2013.

Desertfest 2013 takes place between 26th – 28th April 2013 over 4 venues in Camden, London and tickets are available at Leedstickets.com.
