Thump The War Drum At DesertFest London 2015

From the same Coachella Valley desert scene that nurtured Yawning Man and Fatso Jetson, comes California’s War Drum.

Championed by Mario Lalli, they are often invited to events of his like the ‘Lo Sound Desert’ documentary show in Palm Springs.

War Drum celebrate the ’60s birth of heavy psych, combining all the great elements of the classics like The Doors and Iron Butterfly, to the current torch-bearers like Witch and Mario Lalli’s associated acts. Jack Kohler of Waxy fronts the band with his heavy, swirling Hammond organ, accompanied by spacey surf guitar, strident drums and stomping riffs that will get the floor grooving with largely instrumental sounds.

With album number two, Fortune Finder just out, War Drum make their UK debut at DesertFest London. This is a rare opportunity to bask in some of the shimmering desert haze that inspired the likes of Kyuss. Bring your deckchairs!
