COUGH & WINDHAND: New Split LP Playing At Invisible Oranges

Next week Relapse Records will release the pummeling split album featuring two prime acts hailing from the Richmond, Virginia underground scene with Reflection Of The Negative, the split LP between COUGH and WINDHAND.

On Reflection Of The Negative, COUGH delivers a characteristically electrifying down-tuned nearly nineteen-minute “Athame” Stereogum says “is the stuff of long-form nightmares,” their comrades in WINDHAND conjuring nearly twenty minutes of organic doom with “Amaranth” and “Shepherd’s Crook,” Cvlt Nation noting how the two tracks are “going to spark your inner highness.”

Reflection Of The Negative acts as a precursor for the upcoming full-lengths from COUGH and WINDHAND, both slated for release via Relapse later this year. The split album is out next Tuesday, April 16th in North America, preceded by Germany and Benelux street dates of this Friday, April 12th, and in the UK and rest of the world on Monday, April 15th. In addition to the release of the split in the coming days, both bands are hitting the road. WINDHAND has confirmed a show at the Southgate House in Newport, Kentucky later this month, followed by a June U.S. tour with eighteen dates booked across the eastern half of the country for three weeks, with more dates being added.

COUGH’s brutal month-long European tour in conjunction with the split album’s release is underway as of this week, having kicked off in Warsaw, Poland last night alongside Witch Mountain, the two set to share the stage for the majority of the dates, the last several dates instead alongside Grime. The trek leads COUGH to an exclusive performance at The Electric Acid Orgy, an event at this year’s Roadburn Festival by curator Jus Oborn (Electric Wizard) on Friday, April 19th. It all comes to a finale at D.I.Y. doom/stoner/sludge festival Heavy Days in Doomtown in Copenhagen, Denmark May 2nd through the 5th, with COUGH sharing the stage with Graves At Sea, Pagan Altar, Samothrace, Moss, Bell Witch, Dark Buddah Rising, Lecherous Gaze, Mournful Congregation and more.
