Candybar Planet To Bring Their Relentless Stoner Grooves To Roadburn Festival 2013

Roadburn 2013 - Candybar Planet

Showcasing the best Dutch stonnerrock and psychedelica was one of the reasons for creating Roadburn Festival in the first place, and they are stoked to announce that homegrown heroes Candybar Planet have been confirmed for the 2013 festival on Thursday, April 18th at the 013 venue in Tilburg, Holland.

Part of the burgeoning Eindhoven Rockcity scene in the 1990s, the trio released the classic Dutch stonerrock album 32 Bitch, with ‘Dirt Track’ featured on Suburban Records’ kickass “Sleazy Listening” compilation. They proceeded to establish an impressive live reputation, steamrolling audiences together with the likes of 35007, Astronsoniq, Beaver and Celestial Season, all of whom have graced the Roadburn stages at previous editions of the festival. In 2000, a new self-titled EP delivered five tracks that eclipsed the tried and true stoner groove and took off in a heavy rock direction.

After going on hiatus in early 2003, the band revved up their engines in 2011 for a couple of reunion shows. Now, in 2013, original members Murphy van Oijen on guitar and Richard Plukker on vocals and bass are teaming up with drummer Koen Rijnbeek to go full throttle with the return of Candybar Planet. Not only do they have a new album due in April, the band is also ready to hit the 013 for their long-overdue Roadburn Festival debut. Judging by their killer performance at Speedfest in December 2012, we are in for a real treat.

Roadburn Festival 2013 will run for four days from Thursday, April 18th to Sunday, April 21st, 2013 (the traditional Afterburner event) at the 013 venue in Tilburg, Holland. Tickets for the Afterburner are still available!
