Type O Negative 'Symphony For The Devil' DVD 2006
Unfortunately this disc does not include the uncensored version of Christian Women. Now that’s out the way, let me begin. Type O’ have been one of those bands that survived the old fashioned way, by evolving and developing with each subsequent release. From their Doomy beginnings to the Goth-Pop sensibilities of 'October Rust' and beyond, the Brooklyn brood have been as sarcastic in their approach to music as they have been heavy.
The Main feature of the DVD is well shot, with the band on top form as they run through the back catalogue. ‘Love you til Death’ and ‘In Praise of Bacchus’ sound even more fragile than the studio cuts and pummel the listener into a slow forming coma. Pete and his band have lost none of their stage presence and bare their souls when is necessary. My only criticism with this release is the lack of backstage scenes of the band, and not a single track off Slow Deep and Hard, but there is enough here to keep die hard fans happy. This is a well presented DVD that should have been so much more, here’s to the next one then
