Amityville Horror - Dimension Films - 2005
Opening with a brutal and gruesome murder of a whole family, the vibe is set for this modern day Amityville. A year on, a young family purchase the house at a steal of a price and are soon moving in to their new abode. It does not take long for things to start getting strange; the little girl of the family is the first to be affected with the appearance of a new friend. Hot on her trail is da man of da house, whose mood becomes darker buy the day as the house takes hold.
The story unfolds with the hot babysitter getting the shock of her life and the whole feel of the movie starts becoming creepier. There are a lot of dark shapes and shadows moving around the house, always when the persons got they’re back turned, which is used to great effect. Things then get so outta hand the local priest is summoned but leaves quickly when exposed to the house's true evil. When the priest is trying to bless the house and splashing around holy water, the affect it has in the building is interesting.
A good modern interpretation of a classic, dark and strange.
