Swedish doom metal icons WITCHCRAFT have set Legend as the title of their new studio album via Nuclear Blast Records. “At last the fourth album is done,” commented WITCHCRAFT leader Magnus Pelander. “It’s with relief and euphoria we say this!”
Legend was recorded with renowned producer Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden. The album marks the recording debut of the band’s newest members: guitarist Simon Solomon, guitarist Tom Jondelius, and drummer Oscar Johansson. Pelander will be retiring his guitar and focusing on vocals.
This is the band’s first album since 2007’s The Alchemist.
WITCHCRAFT formed 12 years ago as tribute to their heroes in Pentagram – Roky Erickson and Bobby Liebling. Their heavy, blues-based, psychedelic-tinged music referenced the darker side of rock. Flying largely under the radar of popular music, WITCHCRAFT is a hallowed name in underground circles and has been championed by a diverse cross-section of distinguished music adherents including American actor Elijah Wood, who publicly hailed the band as “amazing,” and DOWN frontman Philip Anselmo, who in 2009 proudly proclaimed WITCHCRAFT as his “new favorite band.”
