There’s a heavy, groove etched darkness about to erupt in London. A renaissance of shadow and weight, stirring from the soul of a city not really known for producing bands of this stripe.

Which is why dear bretheren, New Heavy Sounds, the label who brought you the universally praised Black Moth album, ‘The Killing Jar” and 2 scene defining heavy rock compilations, are proud to present what is undoubtedly one of Britain’s heaviest outfits. THRONE.

Over the last few years, bands like Sabbath, Sleep, Kyuss have been rediscovered and re-appraised leading to the re-emergence of Stoner and Doom in the UK. Throne are set to be at the vanguard of not only that re-emergence, but its re-invigoration.

It seems London has at last produced a long awaited response to the current Leeds rock scene, and although perhaps inhabiting a different cosmos, THRONE are a band that can certainly compete with the likes of Pulled Apart By Horses, Hawk Eyes, the aforementioned Moth’s, Blacklisters and other heavies like Conan, Rameses, Holy Mountain, in the heaviness stakes.

THRONE are three bastard offspring of Sabbath, born to create doomed, downtuned, downtempo, stoner riff monsters that sound like the very London soil itself, shifting, groaning and rumbling into life. Already they’ve been making heavy waves, having shared stages with Conan, Turbowolf. As well as being picked for the 2012 Desertfest, Great Escape and Radfest bills.

So now is the perfect time to unveil this 2 track assault on the senses. Heavy Lies The Crown and The Loser Must Bow are a crushing and bone-shaking 12 minute call to arms and what’s more, with these two tracks it seems doom has come of age, and accessibly so.

The whole shebang has been masterfully crafted to a mighty weight, by Jaime Gomez Arellano (Angelwitch, Ghost, amongst others) who’s perfectly captured their thick, brooding essence. Not only that but Jaime’s taken their already mammoth sound and cranked it up several notches, to produce this facemelting two tracker.

Heavy Lies the Crown lulls yet teases you with its slow burn intro, until, one minute in, the pedals kick and a huge maelstrom of riffage hits you right in the ribs…oh yes. And what riffs they are. Slow, trippy, addictive and intense but above all huge and heavy because after all, that’s what it’s all about. Drums and bass swing like a blade tipped pendulum and on top of it all are Nicos Livesey’s vocals. Rich, dark and melodic. Along with a cool grasp of songwriting and dynamics, it’s what gives THRONE the edge.

The Loser Must Bow is a scary…. and yet infectious slow groove, the drums pound and sway and you’re hooked even before the uber catchy, immense riffs kick in. Add those vocals and a killer chorus on top of that and you’re in deep pilgrims. By the end you’ll be singing both tracks in the shower…. we guarantee.

Call it, Metal, Stoner, Sludge and by all means, Doom (doom diehards will love it) for it is all of these things. But make no mistake; THRONE are taking this music far beyond the restrictions of genre classification and out to a whole new deep black legion of fans. You have been warned.
