The Return Of Costin Chioreanu: Roadburn 2013 Artwork & Logo Unveiled!
Roadburn are pleased to unveil the official logo and artwork for Roadburn 2013 designed by none other than Costin Chioreanu. In addition to designing the posters for d.USK/diSEMBOWELMENT, Hexvessel, Oranssi Pazuzu, Solstafir, Tombs, Virus and Voivod for this year’s festival, Costin‘s works were exhibited in the corridors of the 013 and in Tilburg.
His aesthetic and outlook proved supremely compatible with the festival, so we invited him to put his inimitable signature on the 18th edition of the festival. What would spring forth from his fertile imagination next? Feast your eyes!
Costin joins and Chris Dexters, Maarten Donders, Eva Nahon and Rich ‘Robotmonster’ Schouten as part of Roadburn‘s fantastic in-house visual artistry crew.
Costin Chioreanu (30) has been creating album artwork for over a decade. He started out illustrating his band’s demos, but would soon be influenced by circumstances in post-Communist Romania, too. In the mid-1990s, metal fans in Bucharest were lucky to find bootleg cassettes with badly photocopied covers. Undeterred, Costin simply made his own using Heavy Metal Magazine, the country’s sole heavy music publication, as a reference.
Today, he has emerged as one of the most talented artists in the realm of dark metal, producing work for the likes of Darkthrone, Ulver, Mayhem, Aura Noir and Grave. Whether the images he conjures are disturbing,provocative or enchanting, they consistently show great finesse, sensitivity and depth.
