Liverpool Psych Fest: Final Announcement As Weekend Beckons; Exclusive SONIC BOOM & HERETIC Collaboration + More!

Liverpool Psych Fest 2013

Liverpool Psych Fest will play host to a unique creative collaboration between iconic musician and sound designer SONIC BOOM (Spacemen 3, Spectrum) and London based design and screen-print collective HERETIC.

The two will come together for the premiere of an Arts Council supported project creating an immersive audiovisual installation, within a bespoke gallery space at Camp and Furnace.  The piece will combine a new audio / sound design piece by Sonic Boom, and a fully immersive visual sphere (combining light and print elements) from Heretic. Liverpool Psych Fest will be the only chance to experience this unique, individual piece of work.

The festival are also happy to announce a performance from special guests TRANS as well as their non-music programme of film, arts and psych symposium.

Non-Music Programme:

Psych Shorts Film programme curated by Shindig! Magazine, which will feature a selection of the trippiest mind-bending short films from all five corners of the cosmos.

As part of the festival’s live visual smorgasbord, there are a number of collaborations to add:
INNERSTRINGS will be providing an immersive psychedelic lightshow on the Camp Stage across both days, utilising vintage liquid and op-art projections to create a constantly shifting world.

There will also be a one-off performance of THE PORTAL by visual artist Julian Hand, taking place on the festival’s opening night. Making use of glass slides, water coloured inks, coloured oils, and household chemicals. This will be a unique opportunity to witness The Portal outside of London, where Julian Hand has been performing the piece to accompany shows by The Oscillation.

MUSINGS IN DRONE talk with Breaking Convention: a micro conference dealing with the modern psychedelic condition, taking place on Saturday afternoon. Senior Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Greenwich David Luke will be one of the guest speakers, bringing his views on ‘psychedelic sound and perception’: Musings In Drone will also feature a mind blowing trip into Britain’s psychedelic imagination with social historian Andy Roberts, author of Albion Dreaming: A Social History Of LSD In Britain.

The festival will also host a record shop run by Merseyside-based vinyl junkies Ramone Records, featuring a sprawling collection of second hand records, and stock from the finest labels peddling psych music today. This will all be part of a full merchandise section, where exclusive festival screen prints and trinkets will be on offer.
