GNAW: NYC Noise Miscreants Premiere New Track Via Pitchfork

Gnaw

In anticipation of their forthcoming full-length, set to terrify the masses globally this October, Pitchfork today spews forth the first helping of GNAW’s eagerly anticipated Horrible Chamber in the form of third track, “Water Rite.”

Comments Pitchfork of the decomposing tune: “… the first philippic from their forthcoming second LP Horrible Chamber is a delightful seven-minute span of punishment. As drums splatter against a multi-dimensional electronic framework, crisscrossing howls and ghoulish utterances suggest Pere Ubu jamming with Wolf Eyes on the bow of a sinking ship. Dubin’s venomous speak-sing has lost nothing since Khanate’s heyday, but with GNAW, his stately menace is replaced by red-eyed paranoia.”

Gnaw 'Horrible Chamber' Artwork

GNAW is the maniacal anti-creation of Alan Dubin (Khanate, Old, O.L.D.), Carter Thornton (Enos Slaughter), Jun Mizumachi (Ike Yard), Brian Beatrice and Eric Neuser. Together they mold murderous sound orgies where the collective sentiments of fear, trauma, rage and repugnance collide into a cathartic state of brooding, audio disease. Horrible Chamber, the follow-up to 2009’s This Face, which Exclaim! proclaimed “noisy, demented and twistedly glorious,” and The Obelisk crowned “extreme, experimental and sonically unpleasant,” was recorded at Seizures Palace by Jason LaFarge (Swans, Akron/Family, Khanate, Angels Of Light) and mixed by Brian Beatrice at audioEngine and mastered by James Plotkin (OLD, Scorn, Khanate, Khlyst etc), with additional elements recorded by Beatrice, Dubin, Thornton, and Mizumachi in various chambers.

Horrible Chamber will be unleashed via Seventh Rule Recordings on October 15 2013. Pre-order details to be unveiled in the coming weeks.
