Finland’s Profetus To Evoke A Weighty Procession At Roadburn Festival 2015

Roadburn 2015 - Profetus

At long last, Profetus will be conjuring their classic Finnish funeral doom, worthy of comparison to Thergothon, Skepticism and Tyranny (with whom Profetus share members), when they play the 20th edition of Roadburn Festival on Friday, April 10th at Het Patronaat in Tilburg, The Netherlands.

In collaboration with Finland’s Blow Up That Gramophone, Walter & co can’t wait for Profetus, who rarely perform live, to slowly break down Het Patronaat by the full crashing weight and momentum of monolithic riffs, slow building drums, guttural vocals and sadly beautiful, but also penetrating church-organ-like synths.

One listen to the band’s latest album, As All Seasons Die, will plunge the listener into the cloistered darkness of some solemn church rite evoking a weighty procession; funereal in feel, glacial in pace, resounding of immeasurable eons past.

Lovecraftian in scope and impact, Profetus‘ forbidding doom is filled with a dense ambiance – morose, melodic, mournful, airy, cold and primeval at the same time. Prepare to get hopelessly lost in a crushing downward spiral.

Roadburn Festival 2015 will run for four days from Thursday, April 9 to Sunday, April 12 at the 013 venue in Tilburg, The Netherlands.
